Patterns dont have to be the exact same thing repeated over and over. Patterns just as the one on this door feel more like a tecture or decoration, really making it alive.

Maybe all patterns are mathematic (in the way that they are configured—doesn’t there have to be some sort of system?) but these are MATH patters…essentially crystaline structures. Bluring the eyes essentially makes sergain shapes leap out of the screen.

Puzzler Prints

Zuzanna Licko’s puzzler prints take interest in decoration and geometric constructions of abstract elements. Both seem to revolove around a certain “center”—eye is drawn right to center, where most of the motion seems to reside.

Emigre Wrapping Paper

Wrapping paper from Emigre creates interesting optical illusions and uses repetition of the same shapes to create interest. The second image seems to derive much of its interest by simply alternating the axis of the image(s).
