This photo of Gregory Crewdson is entirely stages and is meant to have an entire narrative. The way that light is applied in different amounts to different parts of the image makes it feel as if it were a miniature scene.

Photo by Joe Baran, found at http://SharpeOnline.com that uses drastic back lighting to create an ominious mood. A strong sense of movement and naritive (as if this is a frame out of a movie). Abilty to see little detail gives a sense of discovery.

These images are powerful (and work) because of the extreme perspective. In the first, the man is dwarfed by the landscape but also gives him a power over the mountain lion (as he seems very stable and powerful).

In the second we are granted a unique, almost voyeuristic view that causes us to imagine what it is we are not able to see.

Whispering Girls

From photographer Comrades found on http://SharpeOnline.com

Dark background and aimed front lighting give feel of a dangerous night; very balanced composition that is made dynamic by the way the props (the girls long hair) jumps between them.
